The Montana Bakken plays stretches from Alberta to Montana.

In 2011, the Alberta Bakken Fairway, which runs through Alberta and Montana, attracted more industry attention. Compton holds 79,000 net acres of land on the Blood Indian Reserve in Montana with a long tenure that expires in 2017.


In 2011, we signed a joint venture agreement for the exploration of the undeveloped land holdings on our Montana Bakken property. This is a strategic partnership as it provides us with the ability to verify the potential of these lands at no cost, which otherwise would have sat idle until additional cash flow came available. At their cost, the joint venture partner has committed to completion of a survey program at a minimum cost of $2.0 million on or before July 31, 2012 and the drilling of the first of three potential test wells on or before December 31, 2012.
