Position: Joint Venture Administrator (junior-intermediate)
Department: Calgary office
Location: Calgary Corporate Office
Compton Petroleum Corporation is looking for a Joint Venture Administrator to provide support to the Joint Venture department including file clean-up and other Joint Venture related duties as required. This individual will report to the Sr. Joint Venture Representative.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include but would not be limited to: managing JV files, handling and tracking JV mail ballots and AFE’s, liaising with JV and Production Accounting and field staff as required, reviewing and updating agreements, inputting data and agreement information into the required programs and providing support to the JV Representative.
Preferred experience
- Minimum 1-3 years JV experience
- Must be familiar with PJVA agreements
- Working knowledge of CS Explorer
- Working knowledge of AFE Navigator
- Knowledge of GeoScout
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail

Position: Sr. Production Engineer
Department: Development & Operations
Location: Calgary Corporate Office
Basic Functions
Sr. Production Engineer is responsible for providing day to day engineering support to the team and act as the liaison between the field and the Calgary team. Primary function is base production volumes and the associated trouble shooting, optimization and opportunity identification.
Relationships
The Sr. Production Engineer reports to the Team Lead. It is very important that the production engineer communicates well within the team and with a number of groups within the organization. These groups include field operations, D&C, facilities, land, and accounting. It is key that the production engineer and exploitation engineer work together to ensure the team’s engineering needs are fulfilled.
Responsibilities
- Track and monitor the reliability for each area – identify ways to increase reliability and eliminate unnecessary downtime.
- Lead the area/well reviews/performance improvement strategies that take place at the field locations – involve the field and the rest of the team
- Support OPEX optimization and cost reduction programs; support Ziff benchmarking process
- Budget lead for the maintenance capital portion of the budget working closely with the field and facilities
- Work closely with D&C and Facilities to ensure new wells are completed and tied in on time with program optimization. Provide the day to day facility optimization and troubleshooting to the field.
- Work closely with Exploitation Engineer to budget the base volumes (ensure that the actual performance and planned downtime is captured). Update the base profile during forecasting.
- Regular communication and field trips to ensure that the teams and the field are aligned. Regular field trips are high priority. Important that the field techs and the production engineers are aligned for well optimization.
- Lead the area recompletion program working closely with geology and exploitation.
- Responsible for well and GGS optimization including any modeling required
- Lookbacks for optimization/recompletion projects.
- Track the weekly volumes for their area and work with Measurement Coordinator and Production Accounting to ensure volumes are properly being accounted for.
- Well Profitability analyses for properties
- Other duties as may be identified and assigned
- Regular field trips and monthly well reviews are critical to success
Qualifications
- 10 -15 years of production engineering experience
- Strong downhole and facility background
- Team player and ability to work closely with the field
